THE ITOP TRANSCENDENCE GRANT FOR COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH IN ADDICTION PSYCHIATRY

(For First-Year MD/ DNB Psychiatry or PDF/ DM Addiction Psychiatry
Residents)

ELIGIBILITY
Who can apply:
– First-year residents enrolled in MD/DNB Psychiatry or PDF/ DM programmes in India.
– Thesis synopsis must have received official Institutional or University approval.
– The proposed research must include a community-based component, such as:
Field data collection in community or primary-care settings
Awareness or prevention programmes
Collaboration with NGOs, de-addiction centres, or rural outreach models
Exploration of social determinants or family engagement, or stigma reduction in addiction

  • Not eligible: Purely laboratory or pharmacological studies without a community linkage.
    APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
  1. Synopsis summary (≤ 1,000 words) – title, rationale, objectives, community linkage, methodology,
    expected outcomes.
  2. Proof of Institutional / University synopsis approval.
  3. Letter from Guide / Head of Department confirming authenticity and readiness to begin fieldwork.
  4. Brief CV (1 page) with academic details and contact information.
  5. Provisional budget plan for use of the ₹ 25,000 grant (e.g., field expenses, travel, awareness materials).
