Scholarship for Teachers towards Enrichment in Psychiatry teaching Skills (STEPS)

Scholarship for Teachers towards Enrichment in Psychiatry teaching Skills (STEPS) is an exclusive scholarship program funded by Infosys Foundation and an Initiative of Minds United For Health Sciences and Humanity Trust & Indian Teachers of Psychiatry (IToP).

STEPS launched on World Mental Health Day, 10th October, 2020.

Understanding The IToP STEPS Scholarship Enrichment Program

  1. Is a flexible program that involves trainers and trainees interacting in peer to peer format for Online Teaching Learning Session. The Training Faculties are psychiatry teachers who have been trained in medical education from India and abroad along with medical education experts. Undergraduate and postgraduate students will also be part of appropriate sessions.
  2. The sessions are scheduled as per the convenience of Trainers and Trainee in the evening or weekend sessions, usually after working hours.
  3. The Total duration of the enrichment program is 20hrs spread over 20 weeks adhering to the Specific Learning Objectives, Appropriate Teaching Learning Methods and Assessments.
  4. Out of 20 Hours – The Candidate can choose 4hrs “What they are keen to learn?”- Customized Teaching Learning Shall Be Considered. Training will have UG/PG focused Teaching Learning Session based on applicants need.
  5. All sessions are mandatory and scholarship shall be awarded only after successful completion of the training program; which includes attending all online sessions & submission of tasks/assignment. (The candidate should provide undertaking about accepting terms and condition at the entry of program)
  6. Successful completion of the enrichment program will entitle Rs 10,000 Cash, Certificate and Memento for each teacher.

Criteria to apply

  1. Should be currently working in any Medical College or Teaching Institution offering courses MBBS/DPM/MD/DM/Post Doctoral fellowship or DNB in Psychiatry in India, proof of the same should be submitted.
  2. Should have at least one year experience as a Psychiatry Teacher (Irrespective of Designation -Any Teacher Can Apply- From Senior Resident to Professor /Head of Department)
  3. Should submit write-up on “Why he /she wishes to apply for Enrichment Scholarship?” in not more than 800 words as PDF document. No Recommendation letters are needed.
  4. Should submit a “Sample video recording of teaching session” on any topic that should not be more than 5minutes. The video link should be submitted, it should play in most formats. It should be “as if it is a teaching session without students”
  5. A Selection Committee involving 2 Govt and 2 Private institution psychiatry faculties along with additional members shall do the online interview of all applicants and decide upon the best candidates for that year. The decision of selection committee shall be final.
  6. In any academic year out of the candidates selected; equal number shall be selected from Government institution & other shall be from Private Institution- In case there is shortcoming in any academic year, the selection committee shall decide the best strategy.

MUST Enrich Research Grant

  1. IToP MUST(Minds United Scholarship for Teacher) Enrich Research Grant for Psychiatry Teachers MUST Funded by Infosys Foundation.
  2. An Initiative of Minds United For Health Sciences and Humanity Trust & Indian Teachers of Psychiatry (IToP).
